Building a Content Calendar for your business
Have you tried making a content calendar in the past? Did you struggle with it because we weren’t entirely sure what it should include?
Don’t worry! I will teach you how to create a content calendar that works best for you and your company. Creating a content calendar does not have to be complicated. In actuality, it is quite simple.
Start with a topic for each month. By doing this, you have an entire year’s worth of content, but you only have to come up with twelve different ideas.
Then, assign one idea to each month of the year. So from January through December, you have one big overarching topic. However, it is wise to go back to the beginning and start coming up with sub-topics under each theme.
Content Strategy
Online Social Media Presence’s content calendar strategy works. For the month of July, for instance, our overarching theme is Content Creation. From there, to make it easier to write and curate the content, we create four to five separate topics within that month—typically one topic for each week of the month. So while July’s theme is Content Creation, this week’s post is focused more closely on a Content Calendar.
Later on, we’ll post other sub-topics umbrellaed under the primary topic, Content Creation. For example, next week’s post is about how to write content that sells.
Whether it’s you or someone else in your organization that writes the content, you will always have a road map to share your ideas. The best advice I can give you is to make it easy. Start with twelve themes. Then, later on, go back to it and flush it out to make sure your year of content is progressive and goal-orientated.
