Understanding why you aren’t converting online leads

By February 17, 2020 No Comments

Understanding how reporting and conversions are married to each other will help you retain leads. There always needs to be a healthy balance between calls to action and follow through on your site. Without even knowing it, you may be losing traffic to your website or, worse, potential clients if you aren’t paying attention to these essential elements. Tracking your analytics is the only way to know what is working and what needs to be changed. In this post, I help you understand why you aren’t converting online leads and how to fix it.

Have a Clear Call to Action to Convert Leads

When potential customers go to your website, and it doesn’t have a clear call to action on it, or the information isn’t clear, they’re going to leave. This fact is especially a problem when potential customers connect to the wrong page, and there is no one there to assist them. Unfortunately, they are going to leave.

Put yourself in the shoes of the online consumer. As if the internet isn’t intimidating enough, you have no clue where to start your search. The web customer is more fragile than the in-store shopper. If you could physically be there to help them weed through your online store, then you could easily direct them to the information they are seeking. Their mind would be at ease because they received what they came looking for in the store.

In essence, it is essential to remember that it’s not their fault if they don’t see what they are looking for on your site. If your site’s layout isn’t clear, and the shopper can’t get to where he or she wants to go instantly, or if you don’t give them what they’re looking for and a way to reach you, they will leave. Worse, they may ask themselves, “Why was I here in the first place?” and they will never return.

Your Website must be Functional to Convert Leads

For these reasons stated above, you must always check your website’s functionality to convert leads. When the consumer is shopping online for a specific item, and they get directed to a page that doesn’t have that item, they will leave. Worse yet, they find the item on the page, but the button to purchase it isn’t functional. They go to the email you for help, but the form isn’t working, or the email address directs them to an email server they don’t have.

Be sure you know where the form is going so you can check it and get back to them as quickly as possible. If functionality fails, you lose business. Overall, you could have had a client; you could have had a sale; you could have money in the bank without doing anything else. If any of that interests you, always check your buttons and forms.
